Learning to fly, or in this case light.

I’ve finally loaded Jennifers boudoir shoot and I’m reasonably happy with the results.

Jennifer was a pleasure to shoot and very easy going and fun while changing set-ups. I did have some trouble in the beginning of the shout with two lights, and went back to just one as you can see from the results.

I said reasonably happy because I pretty much failed to do any two light set-up shots that I liked enough to process. I’m struggling to get my head around multiple light sources.

I love shooting with natural lighting, and also prefer one light setup with a snoot and honeycomb. I’m comfortable in those settings and can take good quality photos.

I think I need to spend more time taking photos with more than one light (sun or synthetic) and possibly need to look at some good books to read about lighting and possibly painting lighting techniques, but getting my hands on multiple lights is not always possible.

I think I need to spend more time around some colleagues with studio access to explore and learn some more.

I’m also no good with lights, other than the sun. I guess it just takes practice.

Indeed. Just wish I had more time lately to practise, but have to sort out life’s little surprises right now :P
